2015 Chrysler Town and Country Van User Complaints and Problems
Mechanical Complaints
- Transmission problems- Failure of the transmission pump is a known issue with the 2015 Chrysler Town and Country Van and can cause the vehicle to lose motive power as if it was slotted into neutral. The automaker is aware of this issue and has initiated a recall (ID-16V461000), which would address the faults with the pump. The average failure mileage recorded is around 70,000-miles. TCU fails and transmission replacements have also been recorded on high mileage vehicles, but are not that common.
Electric System complaints
- Faulty Cruise control system- Errors with the software or faults with the physical button cause the cruise control system on the Chrysler Town and Country Van to say on even when turned off. This is said to cause unintended acceleration of the van despite the brake pedal being depressed. The automaker has been made aware of this issue but no statements have yet been released so far.
- Climate control problems- The expansion valve solenoid or mode door actuator at the rear in trims with climate control are prone to failure on theChrysler Town and Country Van. This causes warm air to blow from the rear AC vents despite the temperatures being set low. If the problem is with the solenoid, the entire expansion valve unit needs replacement and for actuator issues, it mostly could be reconditioned.
Structural complaints
- Sliding door issues- The rear sliding door actuator on the Chrysler Town and Country Van is prone to fail. Problems like failing to unlatch when unlocked and remaining unlocked even after locking with the key are the most noticeable. The issue is pretty common on this van as per the owner’s reports but the dealers decline any sort of warranty claims on this issue.
- Suspension issue- Many owners have complained about finding the stabilizer bar on their Chrysler Town and Country Van either loosened or completely detached from the position. This is a major safety concern and is something to watch out for on high mileage vans.
Safety Complaints
- Headrest- Unexpected headrest deployment is one of the most reported complaints against the Chrysler Town and Country Van as per the NHSTA. Owners’ complaint about the whiplash protection system engaging randomly without any instance of a collision on the vehicle with a high risk of neck injury. Even though the dealers are well aware of this issue being widespread, fixes are mostly done at the owner's cost. A class action lawsuit has been issued against Chrysler for a defective headrest is the latest update on this issue.

Should you buy a used 2015 Chrysler Town and Country Van?
Given the time that the Chrysler Town and Country Van has existed, it has come to be a pretty reliable machine. Most of the complaints that have been observed on the vehicle are rarely seen on low mileage examples. The complaints and recall numbers are on par or even better than most vehicles it competes with. The only reason why it wouldn’t come on our recommendation list is due to the fact that it feels dated now and noticeably lacks some convenience tech. Those who are okay with it would find no compromises in this van especially when it comes to class-leading practicality levels. The starting price might seem a bit higher than its twin, the Dodge Grand Caravan, but we can promise you that the premium is worth the jump.
