The 2021 Buick Envision is the latest crossover SUV from the American brand and it has gone through a complete generational update in 2021. Despite this, the car has not reported any problems at all and the owners seem to be perfectly happy with the car. However, research indicates that projected maintenance costs for five years will amount to $2,287 which is a high figure in this category. In terms of competition, this car has to prove its mettle against the favorites of the compact luxury crossover SUV segment including the Porsche Macan, the BMW X3, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. It manages to undercut nearly all of these rivals with a base price of MSRP $32,995. Since it is surprisingly reliable for a brand-new generation, let’s take a deeper dive into the 2021 Buick Envision problems below.
2021 Buick Envision User Complaints and Problems
Although all cars being introduced new will have their own set of small issues to sort out over a year, the Envision has not had any customer complaints about it yet in the 2021 model year. Since the 2020 model year represents an older generation car, we cannot compare the results of that one either. There have only been two complaints about the car so far but they have been regarding the 2022 Buick Envision. They are discussed below.
Mechanical problems:
- One owner has complained about the auto start-stop system as well as the transmission system. There have been a few complaints about 2021 Buick Envision transmission problems and most of the issues seem to be similar. This owner has reported that it appears that the gears do not shift correctly but the RPM surges, although the car does not respond. This causes the car to not respond correctly when sudden acceleration is required.
Electrical system problems:
- One contact stated that the auto start-stop system of the car has a problem. While the other complainant has mentioned this issue but has not gone into details, it seems to be as follows. The car is designed to start when the key fob is present inside, the driver is in the driver's seat, the driver’s door is locked, the seatbelt is on, and the start button is pushed. However, the car sometimes starts while none of these conditions are present and the driver is outside with the key. This seems to be one on the list of Buick Envision electrical problems.

Should you buy the 2021 Buick Envision?
The Buick Envision is a car that manages to undercut the price of many rivals but does not really match up to them in terms of luxury either. But what it has going for it is that it is a really reliable car. It has reported just a few problems and they seem to be ones that could be fixed by the manufacturer. It has great styling and an excellent ride, while also being quite spacious and practical. If you’re interested in this car, we would recommend you buy it.
