Overview

Competing in the subcompact convertible segment, the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata Convertible is a direct competitor to the Fiat 124 Spider Convertible, the Smart Fortwo Convertible, and the Mini Cooper Convertible. The MX-5 Miata starts off at an MSRP of $24,915, going all up to $30,065, with 3 trims in the lineup. Each trim is offered with a 2.0L Inline-4 engine and a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an available 6-speed automatic transmission, producing 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. Through this powertrain, the MX-5 Miata manages a 0-60 of 6.3 seconds and a combined fuel economy of 29 MPG. 

Buying Advice

We are pushing for the mid-range Club trim with the manual transmission. It offers numerous performance equipment including a sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip differential, and more. Furthermore, it also features 17-inch wheels, Bose sound system, and a 7-inch touchscreen. Additionally, it has more aggressive styling on the front end whereas on the back it carries a lip spoiler.

              Really fun car

              Pros - ["Low maintenance", "Good gas mileage", "Fun to drive"]

              Cons - ["Not comfortable for long rides", "Handles poorly in heavy rain", "Sounds loud on the inside"]

              The 2016 Miata is extremely fun to drive. I use mine as a daily driver but personally wouldn't recommend it as a daily. It is a super fun hobby car to drive for fun or on short trips. Overall extremely reliable and easy to work on, but lacking in comfort and modern features.
