Comparative Analysis against Competition

Toyota has revised the long-outdated Camry for 2024. I have to say, it was worth the wait. It’s got a brand new face and rear profile, a brand new interior loaded with tech, and what not. But nothing is perfect in this world. And Toyota has discontinued the ICE-only powertrain options from the 2024 Camry, creating the imperfection. Yes, the 3.5-V6 is gone now!

Engine and Performance

So here’s the bad news! We, at CarHP, appreciate or maybe worship sleepers like hell! And that was one of the reasons why we loved the Camry TRD with the V6 motor under the hood. It was not the best in the segment but at least it offered fun while being practical for your family.

Forget The V6, But Performance Is There

Sadly, Toyota has discontinued the non-hybrid variants of the Camry in the facelifted model. And that includes the cremation of the 3.5-liter V6 engine. Yeah, no more 300 HP Camry in the scene.

But let’s not talk about enthusiasts only.

What’s better is that there’s less complexity in choosing your Camry’s powertrain. The 2025 Toyota Camry is only available in the hybrid setup with the 2.5-liter four-pot engine, making a combined power of up to 232 horsepower and 225 for the FWD one. If I didn’t mention it already, it’s available in AWD as well for all the trim levels, and that’s a plus for any sedan in the US.

The efficiency figures stand around 50 MPG for the front-wheel-drive models while the AWD ones can churn out around 46 miles to a gallon as per EPA.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I prefer the Honda Hybrid (Accord or CR-V) powertrains for the ease of power delivery, but they do suck at efficiency. So, if you are fine with enduring a bit of the rubber band effect of a CVT, the 2025 Toyota Camry is the way to go, just because of its well-promised efficiency.

It Rides Just Right, Better Than The Pre-Facelift One!

Toyota has totally reworked the powertrain and the mechanicals, and even if it has been done on a minor scale, the output has improved significantly. It feels smoother than before; as you can barely feel it transitioning from ICE to EV mode unless you have your music off.

The suspension feels a bit more comfortable than before. Just because it’s a hybrid doesn’t mean it’s slow. Thanks to the electrons assisting the ICE setup, it moves quite fast.

Be it the start off from a stop light or a quick overtake on the go, it can match an ICE motor most of the time while sometimes outperforming ICE setups thanks to the instant torque.

The suspensions in a few trims are tuned in a sportier way but no, don’t make the mistake of thinking it as M340i level harsh! Even after being a bit stiff to offer better handling, the 2025 Toyota Camry manages to soak in bumps and undulations quite comfortably.

Interior

Getting out of the boring hybrid stuff, the interior of the 2025 Toyota Camry is supremely beautiful and nothing compared to the older Camry models.

The Interior Is So Damn Cool! (Honda Should Learn Something)

Previously, the Camry came with too simple of an interior setup with very outdated design. People used to buy the Camry just because it was an exceptionally good car in terms of ride quality and mechanicals, and not because it had a good overall package.

That changes from now on.

The interior is furnished with bright red leather all around. And all the switches to infotainment to the steering wheel, everything feels new, not too futuristic but timeless. The infotainment has improved significantly, with almost no lag in it.

There’s a nice touch to the physical buttons, and I love that Toyota has kept the knobs and switches for essential adjustments like the volume and air conditioning.

Moreover, the steering wheel feels nice to hold, and the driver’s information display comes with good resolutions and color combinations, which help it be easily visible in all conditions.

At the back, the rear seat space is quite impressive from top to bottom; the seats are plush and very comfortable in long journeys. However, you might feel the lack of thigh support, especially if you have long legs. Other than that, I’m most impressed by the interior.

These days we’re seeing cars like the Honda Accord, one of the most valuable competitors of the Camry, coming with the most simplistic interior, while Toyota still believes in fine art inside a car, trying to make it not look like just an appliance for transport

Other than that, I will say that the 2025 Toyota Camry is brilliant at being a comfortable mode of transportation at an affordable price. Let me sum things up for you now-

Exterior

First things first, let’s start with the exterior. I have to say that Toyota has done a brilliant job in redesigning the Camry. Honestly, I never felt like the older design was poorly done or lacked the compassion of Toyota. It was a very cool design, or rather, I’d call it timeless.

The 2025 Camry Looks New!

However, this time, the design might be a bit polarizing to a few people as futuristic designs are not appreciated by all enthusiasts. But as Toyota promised to bring something new, it does feel like an all-new product, be it the front fascia or the rear design.

The front headlamps are sleek, and the bumper, grille, headlamp housing, and vents look quite aggressive in combination. The same goes for the rear, it’s cleaner in terms of looks, and you’ll find smooth LED tail lamps garnishing the rear end.

If you’re a car guy though, you’d notice that it’s just a new face and rear, the side looks exactly the same. But let’s just appreciate that Toyota made simple look futuristic enough, even though they were selling the earlier model just fine.

Final Verdict

So, the Camry is the definition of a good all-around car, it has been this way for decades now. As an enthusiast, I am obviously sad that the V6 engine is discontinued. There’s no replacement for displacement, at any given moment.

You Don’t Question Whether To Buy A Camry Or Not, Get It If You Need It!

However, the Hybrid isn’t underpowered either. As I mentioned earlier, the electric torque makes up for it, and if you want just a car that does everything, then it suits your garage perfectly, without burning a hole in your pocket. The 50+ MPG figure is something very beneficial in this era of inflation and price hikes. There’s no denying it.

So, the ‘Family-Friendly’ and “All-Rounder” Toyota Camry has been significantly bettered with newer looks and better mechanical tunes. It’s more comfortable, looks up-to-date, and feels a bit premium in the higher trim levels. What else would you expect from a bread-and-butter car?

Buying Advice

The way I see it, a Toyota Camry is not a car to flex around, it’s a tool for transportation, but we still expect some nice touches from our new car. And that’s what was missing in the last generation Camry.

If you really want a simple car that’ll take you from A to B without any hassle, then the base spec 2025 Toyota Camry SE is the perfect suit for you. It churns out up to 53 MPG which is a huge plus over the other trims of the Camry. At an MSRP of $28,400, it makes perfect sense as a value-for-money product.

Now, if I had to get a 2025 Camry myself, I’d straightaway choose the top-of-the-line XSE trim. At $34,600, it’s got sport tuned suspension that makes it way more comfortable and confident than the lower trims. Plus, you get a beautiful interior, something that’s even missing in the top-end Accord Hybrid with a $4,000+ price tag.

It has all the features at a very affordable price in the current scene. All I’ll need to add is the AWD setup which will cost me another $1,525. That’s a must if you’re getting the XSE.

Overview

The Toyota Camry is not really a car to be extremely excited about or something. I mean, the Camry sounds like an appliance these days as a mode of transportation.

However, even the most regular equipment needs betterment over time and now Toyota has released the 2025 Camry in a brand new avatar while the soul stays quite similar to its predecessor.
