... rocks, you feel every bump and seam in the road. Our ford explorer rides so much better. And that is a truck platform. best day driving this vehicle will be when someone crosses into my lane, so it will be totaled, and their insurance will buy it from me.Read More

The Nissan Juke has been known to look very unique as it adorns a design that everyone might not enjoy. Being placed in the competitive subcompact hatchback segment, the Nissan Juke has a lot of criteria to meet. Nissan has managed to sell just over 27k units of the Juke, making it stay low in terms of sales. The Juke is a well-built hatchback but just isn’t as practical and user-friendly as a few other cars on the market like the Fiat 500L, the Mazda CX-3, and the Toyota C-HR. The Juke carries just 29 complaints and a single recall on NHTSA but the low numbers are a result of the poor sales volume. Let’s understand the 2015 Nissan Juke better by going through the complaints and recalls.

User complaints and problems

Electrical Problems

  • Infotainment – The users complained that the media screen that was used for functions like radio, navigation, camera, and apps kept dying out by going blank and resetting itself. This led the users not being able to access any function while the dealers claim it to be a software glitch.

Mechanical Problems

  • Engine – Users reported the engine making unusual noises with check engine lights flashing. There were also statements of the car stalling randomly when slowing down and when the dealers were approached, it was confirmed that the timing chain was broken and caused the engine to fail. This was said to be a common issue but Nisan hasn’t issued a recall so far.
  • Mass Airflow Sensor – It was noticed that the car would show signs of power loss by accelerating slowly with the engine jerking. There were also engine misfires reported and the dealers were able to find the MAF sensor to be damaged due to possible water damage that was said to happen from driving fast in the rain.
  • Transmission – The car was reportedly not accelerating past 45 mph which the dealers explained to be the limp mode. The car was said to make a lot of noise as the RPMs raised but the speed stayed low.
  • Brakes – Users found it difficult to stop the car as the brakes failed to work as intended. The brake pedal was reported to go all the way to the floor which was said to happen due to a faulty brake booster. The booster along with the tubes was replaced.
  • Steering – The steering was reported to feel stiff all of a sudden, making it hard to maneuver the car and requiring additional effort to turn the wheel. The dealer confirmed that it’s a power steering issue that was diagnosed and found to be caused by a weak hydraulic pump that needed to be replaced.

Interior Problems

  • Seats – Users reported slitting their hands and fingers while their hands brushed on the seat frame due to the presence of a sharp frame structure.

Miscellaneous Problems

  • Sunroof – Users reported the sunroof shattering and bursting out with the glass fragments. This was mostly noticed to happen when shutting one of the front doors.

The brake master cylinder may leak fluid into the booster.

Due to a problem with the brake master cylinder, The brake fluid may leak into the brake booster, reducing the stopping power while increasing the distance taken to completely halt.

Nissan will notify the owners, and the dealers will replace the brake master cylinder, free of cost.

Should you buy the 2015 Nissan Juke?

It’s obvious that the complaints and recalls would be low for such a car. The 2015 Nissan Juke has proven itself to be a good fun performer in terms of the drive, but the practicality is short in this hatchback. There isn’t really a family-oriented layout that the car follows but if drive pleasure is what you need, Juke will make a great choice. There are a few concerns that Nissan has failed to address via recalls with the majority of them being related to the powertrain and the constant misfires or power loss. A suggestion when picking the Nissan Juke would be to get the timing chain checked and the engine health diagnosed as damage could cost a lot to fix. We also recommend checking the Mazda CX-3 as it offers a better overall deal than the Nissan but isn’t as fun when it comes to the drive.
