I purchased a certified pre-owned 2020 Nissan Frontier SV Truck with less than 3,500 miles in May 2021 and in January 2022 at 18,500 miles it started making a huge noise in engine area and stalled in road out of state. I called my dealership I purchased truck from 20 times and they finally answered & gave me NISSAN warranty service phoneRead More

... update on the computer? In any case I was a little nervous to drive it again but we did. It broke down again in a few days. This time when we put our finger on the push button start, The accessory lights on the dashboard went on and the fan in the engine went on the truck wouldn’t start. Also we couldn’t turn it off. We tried using the key fob as we were told by Nissan and that didn’t work. As I’m writingRead More

The Nissan Frontier is not quite impressive as it seems. The 2020 model is actually still an old generation and the few good things about that car surprisingly are the engine upgrade and a little more performance. Uncomfortable interior, bad handling, and bad fuel economy are the few downgrades to it. The good news is that the pickup did above average in terms of safety, had no recalls, zero investigation, but it did have 4 complaints regarding the integrity of the engine and the brakes. The pickup had 4 out of 5 ratings in terms of overall safety from the official site of NHTSA. The Nissan pickup’s competitors are the Chevrolet Colorado, the Ford Ranger, and the GMC Canyon. So, let's see how the car performs and how well can the car handles itself on the road.

2020 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab User Complaints and Problems

Mechanical Problems

  • Brakes fail to work-. One user had issues with the brakes of the car and noticed not once but thrice that after the vehicle was switched off, the car would slide a few feet back until the brakes clicked in and stop itself from moving and the third time the brakes did not even work. No one was injured and full presence was involved, if not the cab would definitely roll back and cause damage.
  • Transmission problem-. The transmission would sometimes go neutral and the vehicle would lose motive power when the vehicle is moving at a disclosed speed. Upon further inspection, it was found that this would occur when the engine is revving while shifting gears. Only 1 user has faced this problem.

Electrical problem

  • Electrical malfunction of the dashboard -. Another user stated that at the time of purchase and after using the car for 2 days, the dashboard lights significantly dimmed, affecting his visibility of the speedometer while driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer denied any assistance for this problem.

Interior problem

  • Seating arrangement -. The seat refused to lock in when moved on only one side. Occurred only once and was repaired.

Recalls for the 2020 Nissan Frontier

There have been no recalls for the 2020 Nissan Frontier to date.

Should you buy the 2020 Nissan Frontier

No, even if the truck has only 4 complaints by four different users and different issues, overall the pickup is below average. The pickup’s performance is the only good thing about it. Other than that it lacks in providing a good driving experience and even the comfortability is questionable. Regarding the complaints of the users, 2 of the users could not get their truck fixed. When the 2 users contacted the dealer and the manufacturer both refused to fix their vehicle. Always remember to take any newly bought car or SUV for a test drive and make sure that the car or SUV is comfortable, powerful enough, and that whether at least the dealership or dealer and the manufacturer will at least provide 1 year of warranty for the car or SUV. A good recommendation other than the 2020 Nissan Frontier would be the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado. Chevrolet has a good reputation for selling reliable and powerful vehicles and is almost close in terms of cost with the Frontier.
