Overview

Competing in the subcompact convertible segment, the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a direct competitor to the MINI Cooper Convertible and the FIAT 124 Spider. The Mazda MX-5 Miata Convertible starts off at an MSRP of $24,915, going all the way up to $31,270, with 3 trims in the lineup. Each trim is offered with a 2.0L Inline-4 engine producing 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. However, there is an option between a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Through this powertrain, the Mazda MX-5 Miata Convertible manages a 0-60 of 6.3 seconds and a combined fuel economy of 30 MPG. Mazda offers the MX-5 Miata Convertible in 6 stunning colors, with the Blue Reflex Mica being a particular favorite of ours.

Buying Advice

As the name indicates, the MX-5 Miata Club model clubs the best blend of sportiness and creature comforts. While adding only a minor price over the base trim, the Club model offers a host of features including a sport-tuned suspension, Bilstein shock absorbers, limited-slip differential, and more.

              Really fun car

Pros - ["Low maintenance", "Good gas mileage", "Fun to drive"]

Cons - ["Not comfortable for long rides", "Handles poorly in heavy rain", "Sounds loud on the inside"]

The 2016 Miata is extremely fun to drive. I use mine as a daily driver but personally wouldn't recommend it as a daily. It is a super fun hobby car to drive for fun or on short trips. Overall extremely reliable and easy to work on, but lacking in comfort and modern features.
