Overview

The Maserati GranTurismo comes back to life after a tenure of 4 years and we must say, what a change it has been! The car has been completely redesigned for the year 2024 and now has a completely new design, new powertrains, and an electric option as well. Gone is the V8 from that last generation, but do not be sad, as it gets an amazing V6 engine that puts an amazing smile on your face each time you drive it and is equally impressive as the V8. The new engine is a 3.0L Netuno Twin-Turbo V6 which pushes about 483 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque from an 8-speed automatic transmission! Upgrading to the Trofeo trim it raises the bar of performance with an increase in power as it gets 542 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque. There is also an all-electric version known as the Fulgore which boasts 800-volt architecture and produces almost 750 hp! Apart from that, it now comes standard with an All-wheel drive system, unlike the last generation which was available with RWD option only.

Competing with the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo is the 2024 Porsche 911 GT3, which has been the epitome of performance, and the 2023 Aston Martin DB11 V8 which has extraordinary looks and performance. Both of these cars give strong competition to the GranTurismo and it will be interesting to see how the luxurious 2024 Maserati GranTurismo stands against them.

Buying Advice

The Trofeo is the trim to opt for if you are looking for sheer luxury with some amazing performance from that all-new V6 engine.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The second-generation 2024 Maserati GranTurismo has been completely changed for the year 2024 compared to its predecessors and it now drops the legendary V8 engine for an all-new V6 engine, a refreshed stylish design, and adds a lot of features to its equipment list to become an extremely desirable machine. How the GranTurismo stacks up to its rivals will be a thing to watch out for.

Features

The all-new 2024 Maserati Gran Turismo comes in two trims, the first one being the Modena, and the second one being the more powerful Trofeo variant. We will be talking about the Trofeo in a different article altogether, and this article will solely talk about the Modena variant in detail. The Trofeo variant is priced at $175,500 and is powered by a 3.0L Twin-Turbo V6 engine, which pushes out 483 hp and 442 lb-ft of peak torque. Apart from that, it has various other features like voice-activated dual-zone front automatic air conditioning, LED Brakelights, 20" Front wheels & 21" Rear wheels diamond cuts, leather door trim insert, and Galvanized Steel/Aluminum/Magnesium Panels among various others.

The engine is capable of taking the GranTurismo to 60 MPH mark from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds and has the potential to make the GranTurismo hit a top speed of 188 MPH! The quarter-mile time for the GranTurismo stands at 12.1 seconds. Fuel Economy

Fuel Efficiency has never been a forte for supercars and similar is the scenario for the Maserati GranTurismo. The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo returns around 18 MPG in the city which increases up to 27 MPG on the highway and the combined fuel efficiency comes out to be a total of 21 MPG. Apart from that, the GranTurismo can store up to 18.5 gallons of fuel in its fuel tank which results in a combined range of 389 miles. However, it must be noted that fuel efficiency figures depend a lot on the driving style of an individual, and the driving conditions too.

On comparing all the cars in this segment in terms of fuel efficiency, it is the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo which is the most fuel-efficient of the other two here with a class-leading fuel economy of 21 MPG combined, and great highway range of 500 miles from its 18.5 gallons of fuel tank. The 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 is the least fuel-efficient in this comparison with a combined fuel efficiency of 16 MPH and a maximum of 18 MPH when driven sedately on the highway. It also has the smallest fuel tank capacity at 16.9 gallons due to which it also gives the least range of 270 miles, combined.

Interior

Talking about the interiors of the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo, which is a two-door luxury coupe, you will find a lot of luxurious high-end materials like leather, wood, and chrome used on the inside and top-notch finishing touches throughout, which is very common in all Maserati cars. Ergonomics and overall visibility from the driver’s point of view are very well sorted out which makes it a great car for everyday usability as per sportscar standards.

Occupying the center console are 2 dual touchscreens, one is a 12.3-inch screen for infotainment while the one below it is an 8.8-inch display unit that is used for the climate control settings. There are also some cool bits on the interior, like a classic clock that sits on the top of the infotainment system, but this is more than just a classic clock, unlike other luxurious brands, as it can be changed to a G-Force meter, Throttle input sensor or even a compass! How cool is that? However, the rear seats are only made for children, and cannot fit an adult comfortably. The GranTurismo has a cargo capacity of 10.9 cubic feet which is decent for weekend trips and can carry a couple of suitcases.

The exact space figures for the interiors of the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo and the 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 are not known yet, but we will update this section as soon as we get to know about them. However, from the data available, we can conclude that the Porsche 911 does not score much on space since it is strictly a 2-seater and does not offer much cargo space. The DB11 offers seating for 4 passengers, along with decent interior space and 9.5 cubic feet of trunk space.

Some of the key interior features are:

  • Deluxe Sound Insulation, Leather Instrument Panel Insert, Genuine Wood/Piano Black Door Panel Insert, Leather/Genuine Wood Console Insert, Chrome/Metal-Look Interior Accents and Leather Upholstered Dashboard
  • 18-Way Power Heated Front Seats
  • Bucket Front Facing Rear Seat
  • Power Tilt/Telescoping Steering Column
  • Cruise Control w/Steering Wheel Controls
  • Full Grain Leather Upholstery -inc: campidoglio stitching
  • Full Cloth Headliner

How intuitive is the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo infotainment system?

Talking about the infotainment system on the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo, it is a similar Google-based unit that we have seen in other cars from Maserati like the Grecale. The GranTurismo features 2 different LCD screens, one for the normal 12.3-inch infotainment system, on the top and an 8.8-inch display mounted on the bottom for climate control settings. Basic features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and work flawlessly on GranTurismo’s infotainment system. Apart from that, there is also a heads-up display on offer which offers info like speed and navigation directions from the driver’s point of view. The audio system in the GranTurismo is powered by the Italian audio tuner Sonus Faber which offers magnificent audio quality with over 19 speakers!

Key infotainment features are:

  • 12.3” touchscreen infotainment system with both wired and wireless AppleCarPlay and Android Auto
  • Automatic Equalizer
  • Alexa in-vehicle voice assistant
  • Maserati Connected Services w/trial subscriptions
  • Turn-By-Turn Navigation Directions
  • Speed Compensated Volume Control
  • Maserati Connect Wi-Fi Hotspot (3 GB or 3-month trial included) Mobile Hotspot Internet Access

Exterior

The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo is now a completely redesigned vehicle as compared to its predecessor, and now features a fresh new design language but retains its original shape which first came out in 2007, and is unmistakably a GranTurismo when you look at it. Changes in the front include a new lower fascia with a gloss black splitter and some radiator vents. The grille stays largely the same with the Maserati logo on the front and looks sleek yet stylish. The headlights are redesigned now and are now slightly smaller compared to the last generation, and feature a programmable projector Beam with Low or High Beam Auto-Leveling function.

The hood also has aerodynamic vents which are functional. Coming to the side profile, the overall body will instantly remind you of the last-generation GranTurismo and it looks expensive yet exotic. You get the trim badging on the front fenders, with 20-inch wheels in the front and 21-inch alloys on the rear, with beautiful looking brushed aluminum finished alloy wheels, and digital door handles. Coming to the rear, you get revised taillights, along with dual exhaust tips which complement the overall sporty yet expensive looks of the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo!

Comparing the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo in terms of design and exterior dimensions to its rivals like the 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 and the 2023 Aston Martin, the GranTurismo beats its rivals in every parameter of exterior dimensions. It is the longest, widest, and the tallest car in the comparison by a decent margin. It is also the heaviest car at 4,072 lbs and has the longest wheelbase at 115.3 inches, resulting in a better space inside. Talking of the exterior design language, it is a subjective choice, but we personally love the iconic design of the Porsche 911 GT3, and this can vary from person to person.

Some standout exterior features include:

  • Galvanized Steel/Aluminum/Magnesium Panels
  • Black Grille w/Chrome Surround
  • Light Tinted Glass
  • 20" Front wheels & 21" Rear wheels Crio Diamond Cut with Glossy cut
  • Clearcoat Paint
  • Programmable Projector Beam LED with Auto High-Beam Daytime Running Lights Preference Setting Headlamps w/Delay-Off
  • Fixed Rear Window with Defroster

The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo comes loaded with safety features to the maximum extent possible to provide its occupants and driver with utmost safety and confidence even when driving hard. Although not tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) yet, we can assure you of its safety quotient if we look at its safety tech and braking enhancement features, which help to avoid an unfortunate incident. Some of the advanced safety features include Collision mitigation warnings for the front and rear, autonomous emergency braking depending on the cameras and sensors, Maserati Connect Emergency SOS, Standard automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control among various other safety features.

Competition

2024 Maserati GranTurismo vs. 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The all-new 2024 Maserati GranTurismo could be your choice when compared with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS if you do not out of the world performance like the Porsche with better day to day usability, spacious interior, and slightly better fuel economy. Another major difference is that the Porsche is RWD while the Granturismo runs on an AWD setup now. Looks are subjective and both the cars look amazing in their own way so we would leave that to you. However, the Maserati GranTurismo will be more expensive than the Porsche.

2024 Maserati GranTurismo vs. 2023 Aston Martin DB11 V8

The 2024 Maserati GranTurismo becomes a better option compared to the 2023 Aston Martin DB11 V8 as it offers a better interior with better fit and finish qualities, spacious interiors, and a much better infotainment system. Apart from that, some may find the DB11 better looking than the GranTurismo or vice-versa, so that is a personal choice. The major difference is the bigger V8 engine present in the DB11 which pushes out more power and gets an RWD setup, as compared to the GranTurismo’s V6 and AWD setup. So if performance is concerned the DB11 wins it here.

Final Verdict

The all-new 2024 Maserati GranTurismo has received a major upgrade with this generation change. Not only does it get a new beautiful design, new equipment, refreshed layout for the interior , but there are altogether new powertrain options that power the luxury coupe from Maserati, one of those being a completely electric one. However, the GranTurismo comes out to be more of a well-rounded luxury performance coupe rather than a complete performance-oriented vehicle in our opinion, and as a result, it also lags behind the Aston Martin DB11 V8 and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS when it comes to performance. However, if you are looking for a luxurious, exotic-looking, daily-driven coupe with decent performance numbers, and great ride and handling balance the Maserati GranTurismo can be the perfect choice for you!
