The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is very practical, handsome, and comfortable, and gets the fuel economy game right. The minivan competes in a now-dying segment contested by the Honda Odyssey and the Kia Carnival with an MSRP of nearly $50,000. The Pacifica Hybrid minivan is one of the most liked minivans due to the attractive pricing and the owners seem pretty happy about it. There has been a single recall for the 2021 model year which, in the grander scheme, isn’t much of a deal. Let’s see what all the minivan’s owners had to go through.
2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Common Problems
Electrical issues:
- "Service Hybrid Electric System" error: Many 2021 Pacifica Hybrid owners have reported the error popping up while the minivan is moving. The reason for the error remains unknown but the owners complained that the vehicle broke down and entered the limp mode. Some dealerships report a BCM module issue while people also had to get a 62-way wiring harness changed as a remedy.
- UConnect issues: The UConnect system has given issues for many 2021 Pacifica Hybrid owners. People have reported instances where the system’s ability to switch driver profiles “disappeared”. There have been issues with the system restarting and causing the screen to freeze. Complaints also state that the navigation system in the minivan is misguiding and navigates to the wrong address.
- Backup camera issues: The backup camera in the minivan is reported to freeze and not display any information. This issue compromises the rearward visibility of the driver. There have been collisions reported with the objects in proximity.
Mechanical issues:
- Engine misfire issues: Engine misfiring is a rampant issue in the minivan. People have complained of the engine sputtering and causing a delay in acceleration. In some cases, this delay had happened on a highway and raised concerns with rear-end collisions with kids inside.
- Transmission issues: The Pacifica Hybrid has had rampant transmission issues that have resulted in a loss of power. People have also reported the gears slipping to neutral while moving, causing the van to rev up.
- Braking issues: People have reported the brakes in the minivan make a grinding noise. In a handful of cases, there is a complete brake failure after the noise. Although the issue has been an isolated incident, the dealership replaced the affected parts under warranty.
