Overview

Competing in the compact SUV, the 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport SUV goes up against other notable names in the class, like the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, the Kia Sorento SUV, and the Toyota Highlander SUV. Spread across 4 trims, the Captiva Sport starts off at a base price of MSRP $23,435 and carries on to $32,035. Not all trims are built equally, however, as there are 2 powertrains on offer. Starting off is the 2.4L Inline-4 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission base engine. Making 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque, this engine makes the Captiva Sport SUV capable of accelerating from a standstill to 60 mph in just 10.2 seconds and carries the capability to tow 1,500 pounds. One can also opt for a bigger 3.0L V6 engine that is paired with the 6-speed automatic transmission. With 264 horsepower and 222 lb-ft of torque, this engine gets you a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

Buying Advice

It comes with a wide range of four exciting trim levels. However, our choice is the mid-level 2LS trim that offers the most necessary features to keep comfortable and safe. Besides that, we also recommend some additional features like the 8-way power adjustable seats, leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, Power adjustable heated mirrors, and front fog lamps.
