All the trims are powered by the same 272 hp 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine that is hooked up to an FWD drivetrain as standard. For the upgrade to the SH-AWD drivetrain, be prepared to shell out $2,200 extra. The Type S costs at least $52,800 and with options like the performance wheel/tire package and a heated sport steering wheel, the price can go as high as $55,000. However, the 2022 TLX offers a good features per dollar value in its class and is quite competitive to compact luxury sport sedans and entry-level midsize cars, too.
